I did quite a bit of ActionScript and it's basically just ECMAScript with some extra bits. ECMAScript is for all intents and purposes JavaScript, which persists as a legacy name. I'm sure you know this, but it's nothing to do with Java.

Seems unfortunate that lots of games are still using Flash though, they could easily do everything with basically the same open technologies that the web uses now. I think SimCity does actually. Still, skills should be transferable without too much pain.

Small tip for getting into the habit of working on personal stuff is to start with a ridiculously attainable routine, such as spending 10 minutes working on something four times a week. Once you have that down, upgrade it to 30 minutes, etc. I find this works well for all kinds of things, including exercise.

Thanks guys, I think I found the issue. One member had a signature referring to a .php file for an image, which browsers often pick up as malicious code. I've now edited it out so you hopefully won't see this any more.

Could you guys let me know which addresses this occurs on? My suspicion is someone has posted a link to questionable sites in certain threads, which is what's been triggering some parts of the site to get this problem.

Thanks for the heads-up, I moved/hid a few inappropriate threads. Myself or another staff will probably do a more extensive filter through some of these forums at some point.

Ah, no problem. Thanks. Just to update you all, I've been bouncing between the server hosts and the forum developers because it seems there's some weird DNS/networking issue preventing the chat from working — or rather, preventing the glorious MapCore server from communicating with the chat shit. If it carries on much longer I might just look into trying to implement Mibbit to connect to IRC instead.

Right now the only way is to use the 'desktop version' or whatever in the footer to get to it, but there is a big forum update coming early next year which should bring feature parity for all screen sizes — something I'm personally looking forward to a lot!

I didn't think anything was set up to disallow it, others seem to have been using animated avatars? Is it definitely a normal animated GIF?
