    de_gongji assets

Hey all, since we didn't get top 10 in the contest, probably gonna call it quits for this map for now. So we're gonna release all the assets. I've included a txt file with this stuff, however in short: 1. Use these assets at your own risk (some are bad and were made early on when I/we were still learning) 2. When using, give credit to the de_gongji team 3. Please don't use this stuff for commercial purposes. If you would like to, then contact me directly. https://drive.google.com/file/d/12ZxgaeVz2Jd0SQ7GxyI9p-LpT3JObze9/view?usp=sharing I hope you guys can make some cool stuff!

Even if the ship has an overall gray texture, or is unfinished does not mean it has no visual presentation. In fact, the composition is so strong, the theme so unique that they can easily carry the map on the visual categories. I would assume this map scored very high on Theme and Visual Presentation (40-50 points), and also I wouldn't be surprised if the judges found the gameplay to be somewhat fun and the polish to be acceptable (maybe an average score of 13 for both those categories). Graveyard then probably scored between 66-76 points which for top 10 is likely I would say. Tynnyri, you should be really excited that a mapper didn't make another "mirage clone" but instead you choose to focus your attention on a splinter in someones project instead of the whole scope.

After a thorough review of the Data, we've got one correction to make: Mocha has been added top the Top 10. Thanks to Puddy for double checking. I take full responsibility for this one, it's my mistake. As for scores, each judge has the full greenlight to release their own scores after the Contest. We feel that is a good balance between transparency and people bickering about the results.

Great to see youtubers covering this contest, it will help all the mappers getting more feedback

Congrats to everyone who finished their map and participated! There really could have been 15 finalist. A few maps that didn't make it could easy stand beside the 10.
  9. 3 points
Why so bitter all the time? There's nothing in the rules about dev textures, in fact potentially you could have a dev-textured map as finalist. The map just needs to be playable to qualify for the deadline. you get more points if the map is arted up properly. In this case I say the scale and overall vision can make up for some missing textures... plus the ship is gonna be grey anyway is not like it's a weird orange block in the middle.

All I would really care for is some feedback on what further progress I could make on the map. Feedback about things I might have missed or that caused the map to miss out (not about things missing in the map, which I obviously know about like nodraw spots and no 3D Skybox). Congratulations to the finalists

    Norte | 3 Bombsites Map

Update Steam Workshop: de_norte I worked on this map 27 days now and I started at 9th Jan 2020. I am very open to feedback and constructive criticism. I rather hear someone telling me about what is not so good than hearing what people like about my map. Because it helps me in no way. And I am almost immune to compliments. If you don't like something tell me to cut it, press it to a ball and dunk it into a basket! Changes in short: - ~30% - 60% more fps - gameplaychanges on all three bombsites - added more lights for better visibility - many minor changes and fixes

A bomb defusal map set in an undisclosed location in Iceland. Unsettling evidence discovered by researchers will foil the terrorists plan for world domination. Unless they can blow it all up... The level is designed in a way that it is easy to learn but hard to master. It is compact but offers a lot of depth with clever use of effective elevation changes, boost spots, lines of sight and rigorously tested timings -- ultimately allowing players from both teams to look for encounters that suit their playstyle in a balanced and uniquely beautiful environment. Nice, I just started Spider Man yesterday, played for about an hour or so. Their render looks so crisp, and the movement really smooth too, game's a technical marvel.

    What are you playing now?

I've installed this during the xmas holidays when it was on sale, to check if it would run well on my PC or if I should refund and get it on PS4. It runs well so played a few hours, gonna pick it back up but been playing only with the PS4 recently, if only for the convenience of not having to move the laptop, coffee table, connect the HDMI... I completed Spiderman which was an absolute blast for me. The story was pretty much on par with any of the movies that have come out, with some setpieces that would easily rival what we've seen on the big screen. I played only this for quite a while, the campaign and side activities are (as usual) endless for a sandbox, and really sometimes is just fun to swing around. I am amazed how much this game is a 1:1 with Batman Arkham (Knight), but thanks to the improvements it doesn't feel a rip-off. I have now started The Last Of Us (Remastered) and I'm kinda glad I waited this long to play it... if only for the prologue: now that I am a father I can connect with the character so much more, I'm convinced I would have never reacted/felt as I have if I played a few years ago. I like how the game almost feels like a Splinter Cell game in its stealth sections, I love how you can stun (human) enemies with a throw and charge them, then disappear while another enemy investigates. My complaint is with the save system which is very shit imo... at least for the remaster: they knew they weren't so limited in terms of resources, they could have done something more modern. Your save gets rewritten as soon as you get to a new checkpoint so if you want to repeat the encounter you can't (or have to load a save further back). Haven't played with my partner since we finished the Lego Harry Potter games a while back, that was before christmas. I never watched or read any shit potter, I really got them just for her, but Lego games are always fun (until they glitch). Hopefully we can play South Park The Fractured But Whole, but recently we have been really drained by the baby and it's early bedtime all the time. This game looks so good. The way the rat hordes move and work are visually very similar to what I was imagining when we were talking about doing a Mapcore game not heavily based on combat... it just would have been some sort of alien goo, still reacting to light.

Congratiolations to everyone! I hope we can get some form of feedback from the judges, maybe something you would like to see at the second judgement. Also I hope to see the scores of the judges at the final judgement to get a sence of how the maps have been rated including some feedback. WORKSHOP LINK: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1881843696 I present to you: de_daigo (beta-release) by @JorisCeoen (level design, artwork) and @shawnolson (technical assistance and Wall Worm Model Tools) Daigo is a competitive 5v5 defusal map, set in Japan featuring a large castle. It is geared towards all kinds of playstyles (short and longrange) and features some verticality on A-Site. The map is in dire need of multiple new passes, such as overall optimization, clipping, lighting and material-model management, and improved artwork. I'm aware that there will be numerous nodraw gaps throughout the map (and dev-textures), and that there's currently no 3D skybox to give more depth to the map. The development and design of the layout and artwork is entirely made by me. All technical assistance with the creation of custom content and level design tools was managed and coached by Shawn Olson, creator of the Wall Worm Model Tools. This mean that the entire map was designed from scratch in 3DS Max. Hammer was never, ever used to create anything related to the art- or brushwork. It's all still a heavy-WIP, but the map will be improved over time, with more custom content (that will be better managed versus the mb's in filesize). Hope you enjoy the project for how it currently stands. Without Shawn, this project would never have come to its current status, which is least to say fully functional and playable. We will update this post in the future as more progress is being made

"According to Activision-Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, their main platform is Mobile after the success of Call of Duty: Mobile. During Activision-Blizzard’s recent quarterly financial call, Kotick mentioned the rapid growth and revenue opportunities of mobile and the company intends to expand on the platform. There are apparently several Call of Duty projects in the works right now, on top of multiple mobile titles which include a potential Crash Bandicoot runner. Call of Duty: Mobile is available on iOS and Android now. “Using Call of Duty as an example, with the introduction of Call of Duty: Mobile, we grew our player base from 40 million to 100 million players in less than a year,” said Bobby Kotick. “And we expect significant growth in the Call of Duty franchise in 2020 as compared to 2019, as a result of this and from other unannounced Call of Duty initiatives. Mobile, in fact, is now our leading platform. The business model for Call of Duty Mobile is free to play, which enables the rapid development of large community of players with the option to purchase digital items and services, as well as our ability to generate advertising revenues.” " https://cogconnected.com/2020/02/activision-blizzard-main-platform-mobile/
