    Some serious necroposting here. It's pretty dated since it was first released, especially compared to recent maps that keep pushing the bar higher. So the map is getting a visual update, as well as gameplay adjustments/improvements where possible/needed. Already wrote down a list for this, but I'm open for any feedback and suggestions.

    I believe it was one of the most appreciated map from operations? Its unique setting and its ability to mix its gameplay and world building/architecture together makes it a memorable map. That's great news and even though there isn't as many operations as before, that's great stuff!

    Is weird for Valve to add it so out of the blue, as I take it was a surprise for you too. You would imagine them considering such a move if you had been working on a graphics update already. Anyway, totally happy for you! Is it on competitive list right away?

    That moment when you realize that your work of the last four months was a complete waste of time... Well, I was working on a new map for a while (which turned out to be a huge fail, but this is a different story) but when de_austria came back to competitive matchmaking, I decided to revise a couple of things in de_austria. So I started to rework a bunch of the worst assets, so that everything looks a little better and, more importantly, that the map runs faster (especially on older systems). Because I didn't manage to make the autocombine feature do it's job, I decided to do it manually (also called "annoyingcombine" or "extremely time consuming combine") and grouped a huge amount of the props to reduce draw calls, which made the map run a little faster overall. Also moved 90% of the map to create more space in the center (...), made a new bot nav mesh, new radar image, some minor gameplay tweaks, added support for Wingman game mode and many other small things... Last night I wanted to start the very last final compile before updating my workshop submission. That was exactly the moment when I noticed that there was a new CS:GO update which removed my map from the game. I've been a little bit late, I guess (as always in my life). Anyways. It was still a pretty cool thing to be part of a popular video game for 20 months. Especially for a complete mapping noob, who has absolutely no idea what he is doing and can't even play the game.

    Ran around the map for a bit, and I've got to say, the bombsite with the hanging cargo crate is really interesting. Anyway, here is some feedback: 1) The map is way to big, making it boring to run from place to place, on the other hand, your mid is very small, keeping you from doing anything interesting with it. I would recommend very carefully scaling everything but mid, and redesigning mid completely. 2) Again, the bombsite with the hanging crate is interesting, but T's not being able to plant under the crate devalues their lower entrance. Why go lower when the other entrance has a height advantage and allows you to plant the bomb more quickly? 3) As I mentioned in point 1, mid is small and boring. Just feels like a after thought passageway rather than 'mid.' I feel like coming up with a very interesting middle area is key to a maps success, so making a proper mid will greatly elevate the quality of your map. 4) Lastly, the site on the ship, I like the idea, however it feels almost too similar to your other site, as it has an outer upper passage and an inner lower one. Overall the area around the site is way to large for proper game play, and the site itself is extremely uninteresting and boring. If you want to see ideas for how to keep the ship design but make it work with CSGO, check out the map Glace, its A site is also a large shipping ship, and works quite well for CSGO game play.
