It appears this game went completely under the radar, but this video made me rock hard so I suggest you watch it. Combat seems very interesting and skill based, but best of all it actually feel authentic even from just looking at it... even if it's knights fighting samurai or whatever

    [CS:GO] de_scepter (WIP)

Update. Imgur: http://imgur.com/a/aHQVO I'm overall happy with what I managed to achieve in three months, though I still have a lot of detail planned that I'm going to have to add post deadline. If you see anything blocky or out of place you can be sure that I'm going to replace it. The indoor areas in general are in need of a lot more detail. What I have planned is going to be cool though. Changelog (things I can recall off the top of my head, there's just too much to remember): Gameplay: Leviated head peeks in a few areas.Made entering B as T less stressful. You can now scan the site angle by angle.Made entering A through the CT spawn connector less dangerous. You can now scan the site angle by angle.Made slight changes to boxes on the A-site.Moved a few CT spawn locations slightly farther away from mid.Added Name Places.Added soundscapes.Added chickens Kappa.Visual: Made CT spawn less cramped and more in-line with my theme.Made the "alley" seem slightly off grid.Added arches in a few places.Added balusters.Added windows to walls.Added windows to roofs.Added chimneys.Added more towers.Added 3D skybox.Reworked the lighting to be more pleasing.Added a few textures and increased texture variance.Finished up the A-site towers.Added some grime here and there.

    DE_Yemen

Just looking for someone who wants to finish my map DE_Yemen ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=416035990 ) I just got the main layout done and also playtested it a few months ago ( Feedback was 50/50 as far as i can remember ). The reason i'am looking for someone who wants to finish it is that i s*ck at texturing and detailing. I wanted it to look like Yemen, but you can do whatever you want, if you got some other ideas that fit the layout ( you can also modify the layout ). Just take a look at it if you are interested and contact me here or on steam. And sorry for grammar or spelling mistakes !

    [WIP] Codewise

First of all i would like to say hello! This is my first post on this forum. I was here few times, but more as a lurker when I was browsing the internet for info about level design, source engine. I want to show you my first map named "Codewise". It has hostage rescue scenario. I spent one year and more than 800h developing and improving it. I wanted to give the community something that would be as playable, and fun as it can be. The map is almost 1:1 copy of the office building where I work. Located in Krakow, Poland. I changed few things in order to make it more fun and playable rather then sticking to 100% realism. Development was done mostly at home, but also at work (textures, photos, some of the low poly modelling etc.) The idea came from one of the bosses making a joke about how the office would make a good CS map so I made it. Workshop Link - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=507726238 Our public server - 62.67.42.166:27035 I hope you will get as much fun out of it as I had working on it. I played it with my coworkers, with my boss They always commented how weird it was to walk around the office afterwards. Please take a look at the provided screens, I'm very curious to hear what you all will think about it. I'm also looking forward to seeing feedback from you guys, during the contest and after. Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions, i can provide more screens, photos or information about the project. Thanks for the interest! Cheers! I really disliked GZ for many reasons, PaulH mentioned a couple I definitely agree. That said, GZ shouldn't be used as a gauge to measure how good TPP is. GZ is not suposed to be a tutorial for TPP at all, it feels more like the vertical slice that they used to pitch the game to Konami, polish it up and release it. Funny enough, I felt more lost in GZ's small world map than I ever did in the enormous TPP's world. You wouldn't even be missing anything from the story if you didn't play GZ since TPP explains everything relatively well. TPP stands on its own, and yes, it has some really good tutorials to get you used to the complex game structure, it tries it's best to only throw new stuff at you at a timely manner and let you experiment with it. TPP is more about giving you the toys, the sandbox and letting you play for as long as you want before you feel you want more toys and bigger sandbox. And man, there's a loooooot of toys, lol. You really do make your own fun here. I can see this being GOTY for many, simply because "gameplay" and "freedom" seemed to be their main dev pillars for it, and it paid off.

It's a wrap on my part. Last day of summer vacation is over, so i'll be heading to work tomorrow and i have no time to do any further changes to this. Good luck to everyone in the contest!

This is my entry for the Mapcore & CSGO Reddit mapping contest. Terrorists are on it again. Deploy the Counter-Terrorist team! Workshop link with more images and download I guarantee that this map has excellent framerate, original layout and visually it's nice to play on. Also there are few things semi-hidden. For example, explode bomb on B and see what happens or try the soda machine etc. I started this map 11th of July, a bit late. I was thinking of participating earlier but i just couldn't get to it sooner. I also spent my 3 weeks summer vacation working on this. It's the best i can do for now in this timeframe. All feedback, comments and suggestions are welcome. Seriously, don't be shy! Thanks to Maim and Sebastian I. [DE] for finding bomb stuck spots! Good luck to everyone in the contest! i suggest you to watch topHattwaffle's tutorials and listen with every map that you build, you learn something new. My first map had good layout but bad design, on my secound map. I had bad layout but good design. And i always learn something new. I'm sure that your next map is going to be great

Couldn't agree more. I need to change the way I build and prepare sites in future to avoid this. Gonna be watching more of 3kliksphilips tutorials before I start my next map to give me more tools to work with.

I also am not a big Metal Gear fan and have only played Twin Snakes before on Gamecube. Recently I tried Ground Zeroes but couldn't get into it, didn't know what was going on and the game didn't do a good job of teaching me how best to play it or how to use the various items at my disposal. Is this game any different? Are there tutorials and/or training areas?

More: http://imgur.com/a/UVr2A €: Already for the updated version btw. Also: You can now solo-boost upon the Bus next to T-Spawn. But if i were you, i wouldn't disable this boost for now. Just so you know and can keep an eye on it if it plays well or not.

That's my Opinion but i think that the sites are too open.. I would add some more props or anything that will close the sites a little bit.

Dunno why really, but I was expecting a SP game based on the concept art and stuff, seemed quite lore focused, not that I was actively following it's development. Perhaps that's a part of the disappointment some people have. What ever, it looks good to me

Inspired by dust2 aren't you? i do like some ideas and i know there are some limits which you have with the editor but i highly recommend you to use references for buildings, heights etc. It kinda looks like my very first map ..it rememberes me of de_inferno from 1.6 (not an insult). You should watch some tutorials to learn more possibilities of the engine/editor, i recommend you 3kliksphilip and TopHATTWaffle and don't rush your maps.. if you want to build something and you don't know what or how to do it just google it.

Got it. Working on that now. The shopfront models I made are colorable, but I didn't want to go too crazy on them. Thanks for the tip. I replaced the main one with bricks and it works much better. Sorry about that. I honestly didn't remember Highlands until it was too late. I don't think people will confuse them anyways, since Highlands is so much better looking.

Updating the map. It's mostly detailed, and the layout changed a little too. Todo: -soundscapes -skybox -clipping -replacing brush crates -more ground detail -improve player readability/ change environment and cc settings Hoping to finish in time... Some pictures: More on imgur: http://imgur.com/a/ykbiR Thanks everyone for feedback. The playtest was very helpful. Edit: Just updated on the workshop, link in first post

    Basalt

    Mapcore Introductions Thread

Hello all, My name is Julian offline and Basalt online, currently 23 years old, and this is my first post on the forum. I've been involved with mapping for quite some time. When I was about 13 years old, I've learned myself to map for the original Unreal Tournament, discovering I love to make content for games just as much as playing them. I wished to study gamedesign at the HKU in Hilversum, but practical reasons prevented me from taking that path at the time. As a compromise, I made efforts to study graphic design at the much closer KABK in Den Haag. I've learned and matured a lot there, but didn't manage to finish the study. I ended up with no degree, but I had just enough critical mass to climb up and get a job as a DTP artist the hard way. This allowed me to move out and live with my girfriend (who is finishing a study). With the new Unreal Tournament entering open Alpha last year, my fingers started to itch again. I'm still contemplating to give the HKU another shot someday, but as my girlfriend is still working on her study and I have a steady job for the moment, I try to develop myself by spending my free time learning mapping, programming and general gamedesign instead. Off course, my age and past experiences allow me to work on this in a much more serious and diciplined level. This looks like a great community to discuss mapping (and also get some insight on working in the game industry), and I can't wait to get to know you people. See you around.

I've been thinking about this a lot, and maybe early access doesn't really make that much sense in my case, as I don't really need the cash for development. I definitely want it to be as fully featured as possible on release so I should probably just call it a "real" release :). Here's a few new screenshots I just put out:
