    This project is currently a work in progress This is the alpha version of my new map, 'Keep'. I am currently looking for people to test it and run it on servers where I am able to get feedback on timings, pathways and strengths for each side. Keep is a castle themed map, with its themes and influence from cbbl and plans for its own custom content in the future. A shipment of nuclear arms are being smuggled in via the wine barrels and crates located in the keep. Terrorists must destroy one of two locations, the keep's wine cellar, or courtyard; where a recent festival was being held. Counter-Terrorists, aware of the imminent threat, have been dispatched to neutralize the threat and retrieve the Nuclear Arms.     That site does have tutorials that teach you how to use Hammer (L4D and CSGO). They're not dated. Stuff works the same in Hammer, from 2004 to 2015.     MapCore CS:GO Playtesting 4.0

    Okay I'm confused by this issue. There have been no updates for csgo since lastnight but both demos get the same error and crash out at about 30 seconds before the warmup ends- googling suggests an update has broken it. The issue isn't with the map files being updated (I don't have an updated version of either) and I think it's very unlikely to be some sort of secret CSGO update. Something must run on the server that changes the state of the demos in an unexpected way. I guess you could try disabling the other 2 plug ins one by one for a match to rule either of them out.     I really don't mind how old you are. The fact you made something is great. It's always natural to say something like this so that any negative feedback you might get will be softened. Sharing creative things will always come with the good and the bad. The idea is pretty funny in my opinion . Curious as to what your inspiration was for making this? An avid gardener? Do you hate grass? Perhaps changing the RC cars to killer weeds would make sense, but somehow having RC cars chase after your lawn mower is hilarious. Good stuff

    What I'm Working On, 2014-Forever

    I'm really looking forward to this map! There is just one thing, and it's the use of plants. I hope you're not going to use the plants shown in the screenshots. From what I can see on your map, the setting would be in the "city". There would be no natural plants growing from the ground or the roofs, as they are bricks and cement all over the place with no cracks in them. Also, the trees in your map are too thick/cactusy, the trees that are in Santorini are very thin and not so high. And the plants under the window would also be wrong. The plants that are in Santorini there are colorful plants in pots. I know this might be a weird thing to pick on, but if you really want to make the Santorini atmosphere right, you should look into it. I was there last summer, and that is what I remember, anyone correct me if I'm wrong. Also I got some photos of the view from 2 different cities if you're interested. The first two are from Oia (first picture you see the "capital", second you see the island Therasia(not the center volcano island)). The two last is from right outside the capital(3rd picture you see the volcano island, 4th you see Oia at the left).     Okay, way late, but how are you doing that lighting on the weapon and enemies?! It looks so good! Is it a normal map? Are those enemies being rendered realtime but being pixelized onto a billboard in realtime or something? They look exactly like models in some spots! Thanks! You guessed mostly right, the billboards have normal maps. The enemies were made in zbrush and baked on a texture sheet with all their animations from 8 directions. Example normal map: I put a lot of work into the lighting to make it all look right. The ambient light adds subtle directionality to them, which is combined with realtime point and directional lights. I'm also using deferred rendering so I can use lots and lots of lights without eating up perf too much.

    I guess it is a little rude of me just to tell you not to make a map, instead of being more constructive. - And for that reason I will in fact head over to Nonameyet and see if I have something to add. But my point still remains, and trust me I speak from experience, when you get stuck on a map, your first response will often be to quit it or postpone it, to work on something else, because then you can immediately get some work done and obviously when you just start off a map you're going to get what seems to be a lot of work done very quickly which is super satisfying, rather than sitting down trying to fix a problem filled project that you started a while back, which in turn, requires a boat load of work to accomplish what might just look like a tiny portion. But as I mentioned in my previous post, this is what mapping is; essentially you're creating you're own problems over and over again, and fixing them over and over again, to accomplish a final product that you can be proud of. And the part about creating problems is inevitable, trust me, no one sits down and creates a perfect map without running into complications. So if you quit, every time you run into these problems and complications, you're never going to finish anything. What you should really take away from this is to make sure to carefully select your project, what theme are you going for? what lay-out would you find interesting to work on? and this is not just about seeing Skybex's cs_cruise and going: "I want to make a boat map!", because you're super enthusiastic about boats right now. Of course take notes from maps you like, but really sit down and think about why you like a certain map, and think about how you want your map to use these inspirations. But this is really about finding out what YOU would like to create. Once you have chosen that, and that can take a long time, several weeks even, then you can sit down and begin your project, and then it's all about staying strong with that project, even when you hit roadblocks, complications, problems whatever you want to call them, you know that this is what you really want to create, and that should motivate you to keep going. Of course, it's not like you're not allowed to make something different or try out something for another concept, but make sure that your mind is still focused on that main project of yours because you've chosen that for a good reason, it's what you really want. Super sorry for the wall of text, but when I just started mapping a long time ago for StarCraft maps, I had the exact same problem and I "mapped" for 3 yrs without ever really finishing something I was proud of, and that is such a defeating feeling to me, so use my advice as you please, but know that I'm only saying this to spare you of what I've felt myself.     Well, I got fired today in the most eloquent way possible. My department isn't closing but moving to another venue. It's 225 kilometers away. I'm free to move with them or I can choose not to. The latter meaning they have to find something else for me and if that's unsuccessful I'm out. Problem is, everything in a 100 kilometer radius is moving as well so there aren't a lot of options. Plus, I'm not the only one needing a new job within the company. It sucks, but shit happens. Luckily for me they have to pay me for a long time, even with me sitting at home. I've got full income for at least 2 years. Long live benefits! The downside is that I just sold my house with a substantial loss and I'm currently homeless. I live with my in-laws and we've already found a place to rent but it's expensive. I don't know how to explain it in English but due to the law here we are not eligible for houses with cheap rent and have to depend on landlords (meaning high prices). Seeing my situation that is far from ideal. However, I'm still going to take the house because everything I own is currently in storage (where it can't remain for long) and I had to leave my 4 cats (who currently live in a bench at my father's place). That shit breaks my heart and they need a home. So we'll rent this expensive Fortress of Solitude (which is a fucking amazing place btw) for a short period of time so we can be with the cats, secure our stuff, have a breather and rethink our next moves. Exiting times ahead! This was one exhausting month and shit is about to get worse. Today, people who also got fired were crying and walking out. The place is like a funeral 8 hours a day. Not a lot of fun to be at. Plus a lot of insecurity about what's going to happen. I don't care though. I haven't been happy there for years but I sold my soul for the money. Now I'm forced to find something else which will hopefully make me a lot happier even if it's for less money. It's going to be tight but that will only make me more aware of our spending's and force me to better handle money. Even if I have to take a shitty job it feels liberating to finally be free. Because you know, there's no good news or bad news, there's just news. It's up to us how we wish to handle it. I know I've had a lot of huge set backs in a short amount of time but fuck that, Sprony's build to last.

    it looks really nice I don't if you can do it in FC3, but I'm fairly sure FC4 lets you create custom campaigns/missions using their editor, would be interesting to have a run around on!

    I haven't tested this tool yet, but I use "-low" command to prevent lag when compiling. Put it in vrad and vvis, and you won't have lag at all. I compile an area while mapping another one.
