What's going on with your life?

Likewise i don't think it has much to do with religion, well actually it does a bit, but so little that it would be way too simplistic to explain this kind of situation by religious intolerance only. This kind of symbolic acts made in the name of culture/religion/tradition always come from a very contemporary political/social tension boiling down but which can't be played on the political field. There is tension between the western block countries and the arabic world at play since the decolonisation which still keep the arabic world into political instability and there has been an increase since 2000 for the reasons we know. There is also a franco-french problem which makes that the majority of the immigration issued population come from algeria/tunisia/morocco. Those lower class populations where isolated not only culturally but also locally, mainly by the logic of the renting market which kept immigrants out of certain parts of cities to not make the prices of certain living areas going down. Well obviously this creates unrest and division. For example the suburb town i grew in for 20 years is still nowadays ~90% muslim or people issued from the arabic immigration. So of course i can only speak for myself, but when there is a period of political instability it always cracks first at the most weak point of the society stability. That's why i'm pissed off when the most read free newspaper in france title : "the hatred of free speech" or "is there a problem with islam" when it's all but a false debate, but a structural issue that should be discussed as why the society manage to create such individuals and why the french children issued from the algerian immigration still don't feel accepted by their society 50 years after. Which is definitely not new and much bigger than me

Congrats SA for your G18 by the way =) On my side i just released my AWP and i can say it is pretty well rated !! You can see the full workshop page here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=372557668&tscn=1420922968 More to come really soon!

The time is proportionnal to the total number of lightmap pixels (luxels). Which is, the surface of your lightmapped surfaces divided by the lightmap size squared. If you divide the lightmap size by 2 (16 to 8 ), it takes rougly 4 times the compile time. In theory you should also multiply by the number of bounces, in practice the light decrease with each bounce so the factor may be more around 2/3/4. You can also divide by the number of cores (1 core per luxel ideally). This is a (very) rough estimation, I'm not counting the overhead, vertex lighting, bsp complexity, lightmap parametrization, textures reflectance, etc. Needless to say I'm waiting for a GPU based implementation.

I don't care about religion, nor is this supposed to ignite a discussion into theology. Nowhere have I stated that religion should have control over people's lives. I was speaking about common courtesy and respect. Something that everyone should have towards each other, religion or not.

"Geneva, Switzerland: It took long years and billions of franc, but finally the new particle accelerator is finished. The worlds most briliant physicists are expecting new insight on how the world works. Though there is a small minority that fears the experiments might go wrong and create a black hole: A singularity capable of destroying the entire planet earth. Mobilizing concerned citizen into spending money, they hire a group of professional mercenarys to break into the CORE research facility and prevent the upcoming doom..." Current Status: Layout: Bombspot A: Bombspot B: Tunnel: CT-Spawn: T-Spawn: A-Approach: B-Long: Thanks to the Mapcore CS:GO playtesting the layout has evolved quiet a lot through the iterations. I am exited to find out how it is going to develop...

I haven't been on this site for a long while (was getting more into the programming side of games), but now I need to get back into the art side. Recently I discovered a Crazy Bump alternative while browsing a forum post on another Crazy Bump alternative. Awesome Bump is a very good free and open sourced alternative to Crazy Bump:

Yup exactly. The console will say something in red letters along the lines of "ent only compile, not final!" which is why I say its mostly for testing and time saving purposes. If you were to release a final version of the map I would make it a full regular compile. Im not sure why this is exactly but everything should be perfect on your final compile anyways

If its just for your own internal testing purposes you can use the entity only compile. Entity only compile takes less than a second and updates all point entities in the map. Updating/changing any brush entities or anything requiring vvis or vrad will break the compile though. EDIT: This is after youve already done a normal compile on the map and that BSP file exists in the specified map directory youre compiling into. EDIT EDIT: I forgot the entity only compile rules about triggers n shit but the point is if all youre doing is updating a spawn location then entity only compiles are a massive headache reducer.

Yeah i think most people don't think about optimizing the lightmaps as Cashed say. If you have a huge 3Dskybox, don't hesitate to use a 128 or 256 lightmap because you'll not get beautiful shadows anyway.

Haha, don't know where they got this. A long-lost Day of Defeat (Half-Life mod) novelty map I made in 2002. It did technically see the light of day, but I think I only distributed it like on IRC. So weird to see it come up all these years later. http://www.17buddies.net/17b2/View/Map/94963/dod_plundercastle.html

I have so much, but I have to compile a lot Anyway, I found this on wayBackMachine: (click it, it's a gif) It was my signature on the specialists forum. Making that door explode like that was a a lot of work for half life 1 It was for a update of ts_gpc where the map would go bigger on a certain amount of players, but I never released it. So happy I founded that image back
